Exposition - Au Bout du Crayon

"At the end of the pencil: freedom of expression and censorship. Caricatures and press cartoons".

An exhibition conceived as a journey made up of 32 kakemonos. Each one focuses on a sub-theme of "freedom of expression and censorship": The Charlie Hebdo affair, freedom of speech, freedom to teach the values of secularism, the role of images, the press, laughter... the various forms of censorship that can go as far as murder, self-censorship by authors and the media alike, the weight of politics, religion or money in attacks on freedom of expression...The place of social networks, as amplifiers of outrage or tools of revolt for oppressed peoples, whistle-blowers, liberation of speech as in the case of Metoo, fake news, online harassment... Hard-hitting, powerful, disturbing, upsetting, grating, hilarious images.
The exhibition is accompanied by a slide show featuring a drawing by each artist from around the world. With their pencils, these shakers of conscience confront censorship, denounce compromise and fanaticism. Guarantors of our freedom of thought, they invite reflection and open debate. They do so with their genius for laughter: black, bitter, ironic, provocative laughter.
